今回のモン君のように大会などでお友達が優勝したり、または卒業、就職、昇進など、人生のおめでたいシチュエーションに使える表現をご紹介しました。

「Congratulations」は日本人の方々にも馴染みが深いと思いますが、忘れがちなのがこの「s」ですね。

忘れずにつけましょう。

In this episode モン君 got a gold medal so I wanted to congratulate him.

Don’t forget the s at the end.

「～をおめでとう」と言いたい時には、Congratulations on … が使えます。

If you want to specify the event, you can say, Congratulations on your graduation.

卒業おめでとう、Congratulations on your promotion.

「昇進おめでとう」という感じです。

I’m so happy for you. 「よかったね」という意味ですが、これをCongratulations の後に使うとより気持ちが伝わると思います。

Congratulations on your engagement.

I’m so happy for you.

「婚約おめでとう。本当によかったね。」といった感じです。
